BUILD TOGO

Mission Statement

"Bâtir Le Togo", in English BUILD TOGO, is a organization created by members of the various student organizations and human rights advocacy groups that shaked the dictatorship in place in Togo, in the early nineties, and that set in motion the course of democratization in the country since then.

We, founders of Built Togo recognize the close linkage between the promotion of economic and social development, and the prevention of conflicts.
We believe that the quest for peace in Togo, in Africa, and in other troubled parts of the world requires a comprehensive, concerted and determined approach from the international community.

Through over 35 years of merciless and corrupt dictatorship, which has imposed upon the population of Togo misery, illiteracy, and massive violations of human rights, we have realized the need for us to take charge of our own destiny, the need to educate our youth and work hard for the development of our country. Togo, a small but beautiful west-African country, is almost unknown in rest of the world, out of Africa. Therefore Build Togo has set upon itself to:
- Sensitize the national and international opinion on the various political, social and economic problems of Togo in particular and Africa in general.
- Support and accompany any action geared toward the creation of a space of freedom and democracy, as well as any development projects in Togo.
- Request the support of personalities, political organizations, national and international humanitarian organizations.
- We aim to work in partnership with any international institution or government of the Free World, as well as other NGOs in order to achieve our goal of freedom, democracy, peace and development for our country Togo, in particular, and for Africa in general.
